How to use protection
Standard operating procedure, in three steps.
You can tell Scaredy Cat when it blurs the wrong thing or misses a scare.
Your report goes into the list Scaredy Cat checks before it blurs anything. Once enough people report the same thing, the fix reaches everyone else.
It blurred something that isn’t scary
Click Show anyway, then click “This isn’t horror.”
- Scaredy Cat blurs a photo of a gingerbread house on a recipe site.
- You click Show anyway to see it.
- You click This isn't horror to send a report.
It missed something scary
Right-click the image and choose “Report missed horror.”
- A horror trailer thumbnail shows up in a video sidebar without a blur.
- You right-click it and choose Scaredy Cat: Report missed horror.
- You click the image. It blurs right away and a report is sent.
Detection happens on your device, and it never sends anyone what you browse.
Scaredy Cat scans and blurs pages inside your browser, and there are no accounts. Reports are turned off until you switch them on. A report you send includes the page and picture addresses (cut off before any ? or #), what Scaredy Cat matched, your settings and version numbers, and your note and email if you add them. When you point out horror it missed, the report also carries a little of the text next to it. It never includes the picture itself or your browsing history. The full list is in our privacy policy. We don’t see the images you skip. Frankly, we’re too scared to look.
